Have you ever scrolled through some of the listings on eBay, and wondered to yourself, "What are these people thinking?" Sure, everyone makes mistakes with their eBay listings, but some eBay members make the same mistakes over and over again.

With the stiff competition on eBay these days, your goal is to attract as many visitors to your listings as possible, and convert them into bidders and buyers. Unfortunately, many eBay sellers lose potential customers simply because of their poor listings.

Let's take a look at the Top 10 Ways to Lose that Valuable eBay Customer:

  • Not Utilizing Target Keywords
  • Not Using an Attention Getting Headline
  • Not Displaying a Professional Photograph
  • Not Providing a Precise Description
  • Not Providing a Fair and Realistic Price
  • Not Providing Precise Shipping Information
  • Not Providing a Clear and Accurate Sales Policy
  • Not Responding Promptly to Customers Questions
  • Not Selecting the Most Effective Start/Closing Time
  • Not Being Customer-Friendly

Not Using Target Keywords

Many eBay sellers do not take the time to find the most effective keywords to display in their Item Title and Description. Most eBay buyers use keywords, or keyword phrases to search for specific items. If the seller is not effectively using these target keywords, they are not maximizing their eBay exposure and losing potential customers.

Not Using an Attention-Getting Headline

Newspaper Headlines are designed to capture the audiences attention. Many eBay sellers don't bother to get creative and spice up their Item Title. By simply using some "Catchy" words in your Item Title such as, Stunning, Rare, Vintage, etc.,a seller can increase the chances of drawing a potential customer's attention to their listing, instead of the competition.

Not Displaying a Professional Photograph

An eBay seller recently displayed a picture of a beautiful pink silk girl's dress, unfortunately it was laying on a dirty kitchen floor, next to a cat's litter box. While this item had profit potential, the picture made the customers run away. Pictures that are dark, blurry, or just plain unprofessional are a sure-fire way of losing eBay customers.

Not Providing a Precise Description

Many eBay sellers complain that they receive too many questions from potential eBay buyers. The buyers are not asking too many questions, it's the seller who is not providing enough clear, accurate, and descriptive information required to help the buyers decide if they want to bid on the item.

Not Providing a Fair and Realistic Price

Sure, we all want to make a profit selling items on eBay. However, some sellers begin their starting price so high that many potential customers simply move on and buy from the competition.

Not Providing Precise Shipping Information

Savvy eBay Shoppers like to comparison shop, especially when it comes to shipping and handling prices, shipping carriers, and when they can expect to receive their items. Many potential eBay buyers will become frustrated and shop elsewhere if the shipping information is not provided.

Not Providing a Clear and Accurate Sales Policy

What a big mistake! So many eBay sellers don't offer a clear and accurate Sales and Return Policy, and many don't offer any terms at all. By not providing a clear, accurate, and fair Sales and Return policy, you are confusing your customers, as well as setting yourself up for possible conflicts and misunderstandings with unhappy buyers.

Not Responding Promptly to Customer's Questions

Although, responding immediately is not always possible, most eBay
customers will expect a response to their questions within a reasonable amount of time. Not responding to your eBay customers questions will only offend them, and possibly lose a potential sale.

Not Selecting the Most Effective Start/Closing Time

Why would you schedule your listing to end when the majority of eBay bidders are asleep? eBay sellers who schedule their listing at the least effective selling times are not only losing profits, but wasting their time.

Not Being Customer-Friendly

eBay is a People Business! No one wants to buy from a seller who is unfriendly, unfair, rude, aggressive, and does not offer excellent customer service.

Well, these are the Top Ten Ways to Lose those Valuable eBay customers, and also lose PROFITS!

If you target and capture your customers attention, provide fair and accurate information, provide quality products, and treat you customers the way that you would like to be treated, then those loyal eBay customers will become your most valuable asset.

Happy eBaying!
